Before you bake — read this first:

Your oven is never fully pre-heated when it beeps. Let it continue pre-heating for an additional 20 minutes after it signals it’s ready. We know it’s hard to wait — but this one step makes all the difference in how your order turns out.

Heads up — These Instructions Are for Take & Bake Items Only

These baking instructions apply to our raw, frozen take-and-bake biscuits — items you take home to bake yourself. If you purchased already-baked biscuits from our shop (we often have these in stock!), you do not need to bake them — just warm and enjoy. Not sure which you have? Give us a call at (270) 551-4440.

How to Bake Our Biscuits

Bake at 400°F
20–23 minutes
Bake from frozen
1 biscuit per person
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Pro Tip Your oven is never fully pre-heated when it beeps! Let it pre-heat another 20 minutes after it says it's ready. To get the best rise on your biscuits, you want frozen biscuits going into a super hot oven.
  2. Take your biscuits directly from the freezer and place them on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper (a nonstick baking mat works great, too). Do NOT defrost before baking!
  3. Bake for 20–23 minutes, until the outside of your biscuits are nicely browned.
Dairy Free Note If you're baking our DAIRY FREE biscuits, add 2 minutes to your bake time.
  4. Enjoy! Best served warm with butter, jam, or sausage gravy.

Tips for Success

Pro Tips for Perfect Biscuits

NEVER defrost. Biscuits go straight from the freezer to a hot oven. Thawing first will give you flat, dense biscuits instead of tall, flaky ones.

A truly hot oven is non-negotiable. Wait the full pre-heat time. The hot oven is what creates steam inside the biscuits, lifting them into those tall, layered beauties.

Use parchment paper or a baking mat. Skip the cooking spray — the parchment lets the biscuits release cleanly and keeps the bottoms from over-browning.

Don’t crowd the pan. Leave at least an inch between biscuits so heat circulates evenly and they brown on all sides.

Brush with melted butter right out of the oven for extra richness and a shiny golden top. (Optional — but worth it.)

Leftovers

Storage & Reheating

How to Store & Reheat

Store leftover biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Don’t refrigerate — the fridge dries them out and makes them crumbly. If you need to keep them longer than 2 days, freeze instead: let them cool completely, wrap tightly, and they’ll keep for up to a month. To reheat, pop in a 350°F oven for about 8–10 minutes, or microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Biscuit FAQs

Are these safe for someone with celiac disease?

Yes. Our biscuits are made in our 100% dedicated gluten-free kitchen with no risk of cross-contamination. Everything we bake is celiac-safe — that’s not just a marketing claim, it’s the entire reason Awaken Bakery exists.

Do you offer dairy-free biscuits?
Yes! We offer a dairy-free version of our biscuits. The baking instructions are the same — just add 2 extra minutes to your bake time.
Do you keep biscuits in stock or do I need to pre-order?
We typically keep biscuits in stock in our shop, but quantities sell out quickly — especially on weekends. To guarantee what you need, pre-ordering is best. If you need some last-minute, give us a call at (270) 551-4440 to check current availability.
Can I really bake them straight from frozen?
Yes — and you should! Frozen biscuits going into a hot oven is what creates that beautiful rise and flaky texture. Thawing them first will result in dense, flat biscuits.
How do I know when they're done?
The tops should be golden brown and the sides should look set and slightly crusty. If they still look pale, give them another 1–2 minutes.
Can I make biscuits and gravy with these?
Absolutely — that’s one of our most popular ways to enjoy them. Bake the biscuits according to the instructions, then split and top with your favorite gluten-free sausage gravy. Saturday morning magic.
Can I freeze them after baking?
Yes. Let them cool completely, wrap tightly, and freeze for up to a month. To reheat, pop in a 350°F oven for about 8–10 minutes, or microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel.
