Individual Cinnamon Rolls

Bake at 350°F
20–24 minutes
Defrost overnight
1 roll · serves 1
  1. Defrost the roll and frosting in the refrigerator overnight.
  2. When ready to bake, take the roll and frosting out of the refrigerator and place on your countertop for 45 minutes to an hour while your oven pre-heats.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Pro Tip Your oven is never fully pre-heated when it beeps! Let it pre-heat another 20 minutes after it says it's ready.
  4. Remove the lid from the baking mold — the base is oven safe so no need to remove that. Place the cinnamon roll on top of a cookie sheet.
  5. Bake the roll for 20–24 minutes, until slightly browned. To test, gently press your finger down on the top of the roll. If it bounces back, you're good to go. If it leaves an indention or slowly rises back up, bake another couple of minutes.
  6. Remove the roll from the oven and immediately scoop the frosting on top of the roll. Let it rest for a couple of minutes before spreading.
  7. Enjoy!

Cinnamon Roll 4-Pack

Bake at 350°F
28–30 minutes
Defrost overnight
4 rolls · serves 4
  1. Defrost rolls and icing in the refrigerator overnight.
  2. Pre-heat your oven to 350°F. Let rolls and icing container sit on the counter for at least 30 minutes while your oven pre-heats.
Pro Tip Your oven is never fully pre-heated when it beeps! Let it pre-heat another 20 minutes after it says it's ready.
  3. Remove the plastic lid and bake rolls in the foil container for 28–30 minutes, until the tops are slightly browned and rolls bounce back when pressed.
  4. Immediately after removing from the oven, add a spoonful of icing to the top of each roll and let melt before spreading.
  5. Enjoy!

Cinnamon Roll 9-Pack

Bake at 350°F
30–35 minutes
Defrost overnight
9 rolls · serves 9

  2. Pre-heat your oven to 350°F. Let rolls and icing container sit on the counter for at least 30 minutes while your oven pre-heats.

Tips for Success

Pro Tips for Perfect Cinnamon Rolls

Don’t skip the defrost. Always defrost in the refrigerator overnight — never on the counter or in the microwave. A slow thaw protects the texture.

The bounce-back test is everything. Gently press the top of a roll. If it bounces back, it’s done. If it leaves a dent or rises slowly, give it another 2–3 minutes.

Frost while warm, but don’t rush spreading. Scoop icing on right out of the oven so it melts beautifully — but let it rest for a couple of minutes before spreading so it doesn’t run off completely.

Want extra-soft rolls? Tent loosely with foil for the last 5 minutes of baking to keep the tops from over-browning while the centers finish cooking.

Make-ahead trick. Defrost the night before and keep covered in the fridge until you’re ready to bake — perfect for holidays, slow weekends, or special breakfasts when you don’t want to fuss.

Leftovers

Storage & Reheating

How to Store & Reheat

Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container. To reheat, microwave in 30-second intervals until heated through — be careful not to overcook, as gluten-free baked goods can dry out quickly. The frosting will melt slightly, which most people consider a feature.

Frequently Asked Questions

Cinnamon Roll FAQs

Are these safe for someone with celiac disease?
Yes. Our cinnamon rolls are made in our 100% dedicated gluten-free kitchen with no risk of cross-contamination. Everything we bake is celiac-safe — that’s not just a marketing claim, it’s the entire reason Awaken Bakery exists.
Do you offer vegan cinnamon rolls?
Yes! We offer a vegan variation of our cinnamon rolls — available to order through our shop. They follow the same baking instructions as our regular rolls.
Do you keep cinnamon rolls in stock or do I need to pre-order?

Our cinnamon rolls are most reliably ordered ahead — they sell out quickly, especially around holidays. We do try to keep some in our shop for walk-ins, but we can’t guarantee availability. If you need some last-minute, give us a call at (270) 551-4440 and we’ll let you know what we have on hand.

Can I bake them straight from frozen?
We don’t recommend it for cinnamon rolls. The slow overnight defrost in the refrigerator is what gives the rolls their soft, pillowy texture. Skipping it can leave you with cold centers and over-baked tops.
What if I forgot to defrost overnight?
Set the rolls in the refrigerator as soon as you remember and add an extra few hours of countertop rest before baking. The texture will still be great as long as the dough has fully thawed before going into the oven.
Can I use a different pan?
For the 9×9 and 7″ 4-pack formats, we recommend baking right in the foil container they come in — it’s oven safe and built for this. For individual rolls, place the baking mold on a cookie sheet for stability.
How do I know when they're done?
The bounce-back test is the most reliable method. Gently press the top of a roll with your finger. If it bounces back, they’re ready. If your finger leaves an indent or the dough rises back up slowly, give them another 2–3 minutes.
Can I freeze them after baking?
Yes — let them cool completely, wrap tightly, and freeze. To reheat, defrost in the refrigerator overnight and warm in the microwave in 30-second intervals.
